Well, the Feeling Stitchy Rainbow of Stitches contest closes @ midnight tonight and I was rushing to finish my Sunflower piece before daylight robbed me of an okay picture. Well, I finished, but the pictures didn't turn out too well. I blame the camera. :)
I really enjoyed making this, it must have taken over 12 hours total which makes it one of the longest projects I have ever worked on. Usually I'm a 1 hour craft kind of gal. I like to be speedy, but this was nice too. I learnt about a dozen new stitches in order to do this piece, which was the entire point of it. So that was good. This is an original design by me - I probably wouldn't know how to read a pattern. I like to do my own thing, I have trouble letting go of the reins. My husband has finally convinced me to use patterns in my attempts at clothes making, however, after a couple bad episodes. On that front, I recently won a Sense & Sensibility pattern for an Austen era dress that I am SO EXCITED ABOUT! I hope to make this before Christmas, we're going to the in laws this year. I like to reinforce my eccentricities with my husband's family... keep them guessing,
Anyhow, enough rambling, other projects I've been working on include:
A red polka dot elephant applique on my little muslin work bag.
And... my 3 year old son wanted to get in on the Feeling Stitchy contest too, so I taught him to embroider. We had a lovely afternoon, and he's very proud of his piece. I'll be darned if he'll hold still for a photo however.
I love all of the embroidery. You have reminded me that I need to get an embroidery project in the works as I have a long car ride coming up. I love that you have your son doing it too. My kids both love to embroider and it is something we can all do together.
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love that elephant!
